I like the idea of reading - I really do. But what about WRITING? Dude, your blogs are SUFFERING. I know you're a busy man, but what's a few minutes here and there a couple days a week? I promise you, when you're older (10, 15, 30 years from now), you'll value the archived words you wrote as a young adult more than a faint memory of a few words in a book someone else wrote that you read decades ago. Trust me Nick - write more and you won't regret it. Don't write for people to read either - just write about what makes you happy and you can't go wrong.

PS: I don't see swharden.com in your blogroll.... awkward

Are we unrelated twins? [ponders what that even means...] The reason I ask is because, even though we haven't really spoken more than a few sentences to each other in several years, we use the same phrase at the same time in blog entries posted within a couple days of each other.

In this post, you wrote "It is far from a literary masterpiece and the story...", and in a post I wrote 2 days later(dec 19) I wrote "Far from a literary masterpiece, the story..."

Is this coincidence? Is "far from a literary masterpiece" a very common phrase? Or are we somehow connected on a telepathic level. Perhaps a quantum level? At least the latter is mathematically provable ^_-

It's good to see you writing again Nick.

Hey you'd better double-check the download link to the chat logs - it doesn't seem to be active anymore. You may want to reconsider using that link for a permanent archive ^_- Hey, I have a cool idea for a fun project: use python (or your other favorite language) to make a small script to convert the logs into HTML form so that Google can read them, and you too. G2G - yellage happening.

Dude, a girl saying she wants to be friends is a girl trying to be nice while dumping you. It's never going to be the same as it was before unless you date again. Watch the movie 'When Harry Met Sally'. It's true, men and women cannot be friends because the man always wants to have sex. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you can start practicing your revelation and take things slower with a new girlfriend.

Move on and quit living in the past. Get her back or find a new gal. Or just chill by yourself for a while and let the gal find you.

Good luck, bro, however it works out. We're all in this together! :-)

I'll jump back in time a bit to Emily Dickinson

Wild Nights--Wild Nights!
Were I with thee
Wild Nights should be
Our luxury!

Futile--the Winds--
To a Heart in port--
Done with the Compass--
Done with the Chart!

Rowing in Eden--
Ah, the Sea!
Might I but moor--Tonight--
In Thee!

or this matches the photo more

I started Early—-Took my Dog—-
And visited the Sea—-
The Mermaids in the Basement
Came out to look at me—-

And Frigates—-in the Upper Floor
Extended Hempen Hands—-
Presuming Me to be a Mouse—-
Aground—-upon the Sands—-

But no Man moved Me—-till the Tide
Went past my simple Shoe—-
And past my Apron—-and my Belt
And past my Bodice—-too—-

And made as He would eat me up—-
As wholly as a Dew
Upon a Dandelion’s Sleeve—-
And then—-I started—-too—-

And He-—He followed—-close behind—-
I felt His Silver Heel
Upon my Ankle—-Then my Shoes
Would overflow with Pearl—-

Until We met the Solid Town—-
No One He seemed to know—-
And bowing—-with a Mighty look—-
At me—-The Sea withdrew—-

Millay is just going to make you more depressed. Switch to Dorothy Parker for the day:

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met.
All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet -
One perfect rose.

I knew the language of the floweret;
'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet
One perfect rose.

Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get
One perfect rose.

Music has a funny way of attaching to our minds like barnacles, sub consciously plotting to jump out one day screaming:

"Hit me baby one more time!"

I LOVE the Garden State soundtrack. I listen to it when I'm doing yoga. Or going to sleep. Thereby, I also listen to it when I'm waking up.

I'm flattered that I've been keeping you entertained, but I guess I'd best update my site now!
